Still Lake with reflections
This lake is in park close to my house. Its quite sheltered so its great for still reflections. I tried out Arches Rough 300gm for this one. The rough texture is of course great for dry brush work. All the sap green was mixed from pthalo blue and lemon yellow (thx for the tip Edo).
I have been trying out all sorts of paper over the last months. I've posted a couple on Fabriano 50% cotton, which can be interesting. Bockingford can be fun, it offers some challenges but like the Fabriano, you can really push the paint around. I also bought some Montval by Canson - well nothing but total fails there, I felt like I was trying to paint for the first time, horrible stuff! Of course I'm sure some people swear by it - I just swore a lot at it!! I threw it away it was that awful.
I've tried Millford and Waterford Cotton papers, these are less sympathetic to the beginner I find, although great papers.
However, I got hold of a couple of sample sheets of Boahong 'masters' choice' paper the other day, and I think this is one I will buy a block of, I was really surprised by it - its very comparable to Arches, but even more user friendly as in you can pull out paint, reactivate dry paint, and it has an interesting texture, softer than Arches.
Just bought a sheet of W&N CP 300gm. That I will also try soon.

Wonderful sky, water and reflections in this.
