The beauty of a ploughed field

This morning -I sat in my tractor listening to Olivers lecture on how to become a successful landscape artist. The serenity of the countryside that he felt and that shows so beautifully in his paintings. And I thought to myself; -How I envy the ability to go out on a sunny morning and just paint! Then he said "Remove the obstacles that stops you from going outside!" I know that he does not mean change your entire career and sell the farm! But the phrases stuck with me, and got me thinking. When do I find serenity in the landscape I love? The answer is in the fall, and winter. When the barns are full the pressure is off! And just now I was drinking Coffee on break and looked at som beautiful paintings of fall and winter, and a description to a painting came up: "He saw the beauty of a ploughed field! - Rowland Hilder!!

I just bought my first art book as a result of Ollies lecture, and that phrase. And now has a deeper understanding of why I just adore Edos paintings with winter and autumnal colours.

One obstacle removed, and deeper understanding of my favourite colours!

I have now taken up enough space.. Thank you Oliver and Edo for the opportunity to do so!!

Seija,

Ploughed fields, vineyards, orchards, fields divided by hedgerows...contrast the natural world with the order superimposed by humans; potentially interesting subjects to paint. Thank you for the reference to Rowland Hilder, I was previously unfamiliar with his work. Once your harvest is in, I hope you make the opportunity to sketch and paint in your fields.
