Day 5 in my 60 day pledge to not watch painting tutorials
So far I have tidied my art space, applied a coat of sealer to my art board, sorted my paintingS, scanned my paintings, read a number of interesting posts on an excellent forum about painting. Now considering cleaning my art brushes! Then a little thought popped into my head and screamed you are avoiding painting. Truly I am my own worse enemy. Hopefully the next 55 days will see some progress.

This is a general suggestion to anyone reading this post.
Go for a walk with a sketch pad, with pencils, maybe a couple of colours and brush. Sit down somewhere and draw/paint whats in front of you - take just 15 minutes over it and then repeat a few times in other places.
Don't think any deeper about it than that.
Being an artist starts with observing, not painting. That's where you will find the inspiration to create. You will mess up, but you will also surprise yourself as you learn to abstract visual information direct from nature. You will discover what makes you tick as an artist. This will provide the much needed drive.
In the long run this will prove inherently more satisfying than any YT follow along.
